Shooting film…
By Anna | August 12, 2008
I finally took my old film camera out of the box yesterday and I went to the park to remind myself how it feels to shoot and be unable to see the results right away. Strange. I was shooting film for couple of years before I got my first digital camera and it was so natural to shoot and wait to see the pictures. I remember how excited I was when I had to spend the whole night in my little darkroom making proofs. I liked that so much! And now I got so used to shooting and looking at what I did. I got used to coming home, downloading the pictures and looking at them couple minutes later. It’s faster, more convenient and cleaner, but there is something missing. So, I decided to shoot film sometimes. I just have to practice how to be patient and wait. Maybe one day I’ll set up my little darkroom again :-).
I was a beautiful, crisp evening. The kind of an evening you want to spend outside walking among flowers and contemplating.
Here is a couple of pictures I took with my digital camera, so I could post them today.

Muddy Buddy - accomplished!
By Anna | August 9, 2008
Just a couple of pictures from the Muddy Buddy race I did with my friend Justyna last Sunday. We biked, ran and crawled in the mud pit. It was a beautiful day for an outdoor activity and it was fun to get so dirty.
Getting ready:

We were surprised how many people came to Gilberts for the race.

getting in the mud:

Tired, dirty but satisfied.

The day before the race, Justi and JJ came over for dinner which JJ made himself. He treated us with delicious sushi! Did you notice that artists (JJ is an artist) often cook great?
JJ thank you for such a good dinner and Justi thank you for doing this race with me. Next year I’m going to talk you into doing triathlon with me ;-).

Paul took all the pictures. He will post more on his blog soon.
You can also see some pictures of us on Muddy Buddy web.

My mom and me
By Anna | August 6, 2008
Paul took a couple of pictures of me and my mom recently. I like them a lot and I’m sure in the future they will have even greater value for both of us. My mom will go home in a couple of weeks and I won’t be able to see her for a while. It’s so good to have pictures of people we love but can’t spend time with. Isn’t amazing that we can freeze a moment, expression, emotions, time…I’m thankful for that. I have a lot of pictures and I come back to them very often. They help me to travel in time and remember all these precious moments in my life. I’m so happy I’ve chosen to be a photographer so I can capture those special moments for other people as well.

If you would like to see more pictures Paul took of me and my mom, please visit his blog.
Here is a pictures of me Paul took after “mother and daughter” session which I really like. I must have been thinking about something…nice:-).

Go get your camera and take some pictures of the people you love and care about. It’s worth the effort!

Madison - 2.5 years old
By Anna | August 3, 2008
Maddie is a very sweet, gentle, happy little girl. She lives close to us and sometimes comes over to play with Kuba. Our son really likes her. Kuba is happy to show his little friend all his trains and Madison seems to like to play with his favorite toys. You should see them running up and down the hill together with a big smile on their faces. They are so cute:-). Take a look at some pictures of little Madison:

With mommy:

Madison and her parents are expecting a baby soon. We all are very excited and we can’t wait to see him/her!
I’m sure Maddie will be a wonderful big sister.

Betsy & Nick - Engagement Session
By Anna | July 24, 2008
Betsy and Nick are nice, kind, loving and such a good looking couple. I had a very good time photographing them. We spent a few hours walking and exploring the streets of Chicago. I was really in the mood for shooting that day and I couldn’t put my camera away. I guess I “tortured” Betsy and Nick way to long and I took more pictures than usual, but … you don’t get to have an engagement session every year ;-). Betsy and Nick asked me to photograph their wedding next year! I’m so excited to be a part of their big day!
Betsy and Nick, thank you for letting me capture your love and affection for each other. You were great models! It’s so nice to work with people who are willing to help me express my ideas.

Ania - portraits
By Anna | July 13, 2008
I often edit my photographs with Kubota’s actions and Boutwell’s Totally Rad Action Mix. You have probably noticed I’ve been using two actions very often recently. One of them is Old Skool and it’s stronger version - Super Old Skool from Totally Rad Action Mix . I really like the way they look. They remind me my grandma’s old, grainy pictures.
Here is some portraits of my best friend, edited with both, Kubota and Boutwell’s actions:

Ania, I’m so lucky to have such a great friend like you :-).

Rainy day
By Anna | July 10, 2008
Despite a storm and rain I had a really nice day today. Maybe it is actually because it was rainy and stormy. I like rainy days. I came back home earlier, Kuba fell asleep on the way home, my husband was taking pictures in Chicago and I had some time just for myself. It felt good. I was sitting and what was unusual for me was I was doing nothing. I had a lot of plans (as always), but instead of completing any of them I decided to slow down and relax. After my son woke up I took him for a walk. I spend a lot of time with him and we often go for a walk, but today I didn’t think about the tons of things I had to do. I didn’t worry that I had to go to the grocery store, cook and spend another night in front of the computer. I just enjoyed this walk. I felt something I didn’t feel for a long time - peace. I picked some wild flowers and they smelled so good! I watched frogs with Kuba in a little pond and we looked for a fish in a little river. I felt like lying in a meadow, smelling flowers and watching fast moving, dark clouds. I needed a brake from the hustle and bustle of my every day life. After we came back home, we watched rain and a big storm through the windows while eating a cake my mom baked today. And now, while writing this post we’re having the most beautiful sunset I’ve seen for a long time. Great colors on one side and a rainbow with lighting on the opposite side of the sky. I wish you could see it.
I ran outside and took some pictures with my point and shoot camera. The colors are not intense like they really were but at least you can see how beautiful it was. (the pictures are straight out of the camera, no Photoshop).
West side:

East side. I’ve never seen a rainbow and lightings in the same time. Have you?
